"Pop psychonaughts who view the world through Alice in Wonderland shaped sunglasses." - Record Collector

"The band, to me, sound like The Kinks, The Small Faces or Madness, that quintessential English sound.......It's got that feel, and they aren't in competition with anybody. Nobody does what the Murmurs do right now." - Davy Jones in the Portsmouth Evening News.

"This band reeks of originality so much so they can't be compared to anything apart from the strange stuff you find down the back of the sofa. strong + fluffy" - The Joiners.

"One of the best live bands currently on the circuit" - Reckin' Records

"SINGLE OF THE MONTH: First flight into the pyschedelic galaxy for the magnificent Murmurs of Irma. A stupendous array of songs 'pysch' toned, in balance between past and future. Four precious pearls, excited by fuzzy guitars, trembling keyboards and space vocal. The most psychedelic face of wonderful English pop." - Rockerilla, Italy

"The band experiment wildly with tape loops, backward guitars and assorted children's toys to great effect. An entire album's worth of this madness is demanded immediately." - Ptolemaic Terrascope

news

Spring 2003
Greetings!! Spring is sprung and so murmurs of Irma have finally awoken from a bizarrely convoluted dream to complete writing and recording tunes for our second l.p .We are hoping to build on the positive reaction to "Cloud watch H.Q." by gaining wider distribution and as ever, the support of a kindly patron or record company
(arf,arf)

The new c.d. will probably be released under the imaginative title of "murmurs of Irma" and has so far been recorded under wartime conditions over a series of marathon forty eight hour sessions, fuelled almost entirely by marshmallows, jam and very fizzy drinks. The resulting mind blowing extravaganza of sound will be available shortly (arf, arf) So watch this space for further information! We are also currently hunting for suitable friendly venues where we can perform our ditties live, so if there's any body out there who may be able to offer some suggestions , please email us!. Finally we'd like to take this opportunity to thank anybody who may be brave enough to describe themselves as a murmurs of Irma fan. Your interest and support is greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

July 2002
Broken Dolly Records are proud to announce the arrival of "Cloudwatch HQ", the debut album from Murmurs Of Irma. The album presents 14 new tracks, including the live favourites "Lava Lamp" and "Cradle Song", plus a new version of the title track (previously available on the debut "Coloured Ice" EP). The album has been written and produced by the band at various locations...in-between houses, on safari, up a creek without a paddle...
